ADOBE FLASH SIMPLICITY FOR DESIGNERS: this is what adobe flash should have been

Friday: October 30, 2009

Hi friends;

I have been watching the development of Adobe Flash since it first was released. As a media designer/developer, I have been using Adobe Flash. As a side bar Flash was originally made by Macromedia. Around 2005-ish, Adobe bought Macromedia. In addition to using Adobe Flash as a media designer, I have also taught Flash for several years. Regardless of my mode, I always thought that Flash was more programmer-centric than it was designer-centric.

Over in Adobe land, there is a web site named Adobe Labs. This is where the Adobes let mere mortals look into the Adobe sandbox. You need to check out the beta of Adobe Flash Catalyst.

This video shows just how powerful Adobe Flash Catalyst will be. I hope you like this:

Hi Seann;
I like the method that you used to review & critique the book “The Art of Possibility”. What intrigued me most about your presentation was that you used video as your analytical presentation device. Below is the video that I commented on for this blog entry:

What else can I say. An Apple 27″ iMac sized at 16:9. Umm . . . so how is Windows 7? Who cares? Does it really make any difference? If you were wondering just how big a 27″ display is, the smaller iMac on the left is a 21.5″ display

EDM613 WK04 – HOW DO YOU HOLD A HD-DSLR CAMERA STEADY: the answer is a u-boat commander

The good folks at the iDC Photo Store have been making & selling rigs to hold your DSL Video camera for a long time. I have not used their products so I am not able to testify to the quality of their product. However any product that pays homage to those crazy Nazi U-Boat commanders immediately piqued my interest.

I can just image what the key grip’s reaction would be to the question “where is the U-Boat commander for this shot”?

I have had a Canon eos-1d mark II since sometime in 2005. With all the great new cameras Canon has announced in recent years, I have had imaging envy. I keep telling my self over & over again, there had to be a new EOS-1D class body just over the hill. As I have commented before on this blog, we are witnessing the fusion of stills & video cameras. Yesterday, in the land down under, the Canon dudes released what I have been waiting for! The new camera is the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV. This camera like all the recent Canon releases can shoot stills & videos!

Dude!

The one issue that plagued Canon with the Canon EOS-1D Mark III was focusing problems. Please, please, please Canon I hope you got the new focusing technology right this time. If you didn’t, there is an awesome line of Nikon D3 just waiting to be migrated to.

EDM613 WK04 – MY DREAM TEACHING OR PRESENTATION ENVIRONMENT: my photography classroom would just of the door of my earth roamer xv-lt

Basically I am wondering vagabond at heart. So the question of “what your dream teaching or presentation environment would be like” is question I have been wrangling for many years. I made allusions to this question in a past blog post.

I used to say that as long you have a computer & a FedEx account, you could hand out a shingle anywhere you wanted.

This statement has been modified. As long as you have a laptop, a MacBook Pro of course & an internet feed, you could hand out a shingle anywhere you wanted. So what shingle would I hang out? That’s the easy part, I would teach computer graphics & photography. Where would I hand out that shingle? Well the answer to that question would be anywhere I could drive to in my zippy Earth Roamer XV-LT.

I must admit that my vagabond sprit has been fueled recently by the wonderings of Ben Willmore.

How cool would it be to teach photography from any National Park in the United States? Here is the problem with my dream. If you know me, then you know I love Starbucks. How would I latte in Glacier National Park?
